We do it all day long. But if you’re using social media for marketing,
listening takes on a slightly different focus. If you’re not familiar with social
media listening, here are three simple tips to help:
1) Listening
refers to monitoring/tracking any engagements with your business or brand that
occur via social media, as well as tracking the results of marketing done
through social media. This is necessary so that you can take part in or respond
to any discussions or comments.
2) Listening
activities may include monitoring social media for keywords, trends, or level
of traffic and activity. This provides you with metrics you can use to measure
your marketing effectiveness.
3) Listening
is an active process that requires commitment and time, as well as active
participation in the social media channels being monitored. This allows you to
gain valuable insight and information on how you are perceived by the market.
To summarize, listening is keeping track of what is being
said about a company, product or service, or around a topic of discussion, for
the purpose of being able to respond, report or revise as necessary.
